BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) A Strike Force team from the Erie County Sheriff's Office and Buffalo Police Department made a drug arrest while operating a safety checkpoint Friday night.
The Strike Force team was set up at the Route 33 off ramp at Suffolk Avenue, when they caught a driver passing through without a seat belt.
Deputies say they detected the odor of marijuana when they stopped the vehicle, driven by 30-year-old Kevin Richey of Buffalo.
The vehicle was searched, and two plastic baggies containing 60 grams of marijuana were found inside.
Richey was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of Marjuana. The suspect was also found to be on parole for another charge. He was taken to Erie County Holding Center. His vehicle was impounded.
