Town of Yorkshire, NY

There's somebody out there, he is after our kids," said Gina Wright whose son attends Pioneer Middle School in the Town of Yorkshire.

When Wright heard the news that a strange man tried to lure two young middle school students into his vehicle early Tuesday morning, she and other parents were immediately sent into a frenzy.

"Panic, in this area we protect our children. We take precautions, we know everybody in the area so when you see somebody who don't fit automatically it sends out a message," said Wright.

Investigators say a white male driving a white sport utility vehicle approached the students while they were waiting for the school bus in front of the Twin Lakes mobile home community in the Town of Yorkshire.

School officials sent out an emergency message alerting parents within hours.

"Parents were texting back and forth and we had Facebook everybody put it out there pretty quickly and that i'm thankful for," said Wright.

Parents have reason to be concerned, they say there is a high concentration of sex-offenders living in their neighborhood, something they make sure their children are aware of.

"It hasn't happened around here much but there are some like sex offenders in this area," said Zak Finner, Wright's son and an eighth grade student at Pioneer Middle School.

"You have to keep an eye on it especially when we hear ones in our area. I pull them up I make sure the kids see there faces and I tell them and you avoid them at all costs and I would say run," said Wright.

There were rumors that a suspect had been caught circulating among parents on Facebook and through text messages. But with no official confirmation or updates from authorities...

"I'm just worried now because there isn't anything being said which leads me to believe that nobody is really caught," said Wright.

Authorities tell Eyewitness News they have no suspects in the case at this time, however they are interviewing potential witnesses for leads.
