HAMBURG, N.Y. (WKBW) The Town of Hamburg is full of snow after the recent lake-effect blizzard hit this area hard.

While the driving ban is now lifted, several streets are still snow-covered and slippery with police advising drivers to go slow.

Adding to the problems are high snow banks that are making it a challenge for drivers to see at some intersections.

All morning long, sounds of snowblowers and the beep of heavy equipment could be heard as people worked to dig out.

Route 5 remains closed between Lake Avenue and Ridge Road because an ice jam on Smoke's Creek caused flooding along the Lackawanna / Hamburg border.

Officials tell Eyewitness News that they hope to have that section of Route 5 reopened later today.
