Buffalo, NY (WKBW) A lot of preparation goes into getting ready for the Thanksgiving holiday. But here in Western New York, some local stores are preparing for the day after Thanksgiving. The day known as "Black Friday."

The day was originally given the name due to the large amount of sales, putting companies from the overall loss "red" category back into the profit or "black." It has almost become a second holiday, that only hours after Thanksgiving, people are waiting outside stores to get their one day only sales.

Ben Gregory, the Manager of the Target in North Buffalo, said his store has been prepping for weeks. "The merchandise has been flowing in from our distributors, and we're getting it all organized and ready to put it out Tuesday or Wednesday."

"Black Friday" is the biggest shopping day of the year, with millions of dollars spent across the country in a few hours.

"We expect a line of guest outside waiting to come in," Gregory said, "and certainly there will be some great deals."

As for the shoppers, there are many reasons for people to come out on "Black Friday." Some do it for the fun, others because it is tradition. But most people do it for the deals. "You can't beat the prices you get. I have four kids and it costs a lot to buy the things that they want," shopper Maria McDow said, "I just do it so I can hear 'this is the best Christmas ever.'"
