Missing Statue Returned To Italian Festival

BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Buffalo Police tell Eyewitness News the statue of "Poseidon," which is part of the larger Trevi Fountain replica, has been returned to the Sorrento Cheese Italian Heritage Festival in Buffalo.

Police were searching for suspects in connection with the apparent theft of the statue from the Italian Festival early Wednesday morning.

The statue of Poseidon, which is about 6 feet tall and weighs nearly 150 pounds, is part of the replica Trevi Fountain that was awaiting set-up for the upcoming Italian Festival that begins Thursday on Hertel Avenue between Delaware and Colvin in North Buffalo.

Police believe the statue was stolen sometime between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. Wednesday morning.

If anyone has information on who may have taken it, they are asked to call Buffalo Police at 847-2255.
