BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Statler City owner Mark Croce is looking to team up with an Ivy League school that has a history with Statler. Ellsworth Statler opened the Buffalo hotel in 1923 and four years later made several generous donations to Cornell University and its hospitality school. Now a report in this week's Business First shows how Croce is hoping to expand on that.

Cornell students and professors recently toured the 18 store building over two days.

Eventually, the Statler could house a hotel on the upper floors. Croce says he'd love for it to become a hands-on learning experience for Cornell students. Officials with Cornelll say they'd also like to have a stronger presence in Buffalo.

Business First is hosting a business growth expo next week where local executives and decision makers will come together to gain new insights, strategies and solutions for their business. The event features training sessions to boost business with LinkedIn and other informational sessions.

The luncheon keynote speaker is Bob Nelson. He is the author of the book "1501 ways to reward your employees." The expo will be held on Tuesday, October 16th from 11am to 5pm at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.
