BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - State Assemblyman Sean Ryan (D-Buffalo) does not like the idea of taxpayers subsidizing a new 12-story office tower in downtown Buffalo.
"The question is when do the dominoes stop. We got to give money to Company X or they may leave?" he said.
"Every business in Buffalo can say that. Are we going to give every business in Buffalo a subsidy?"
Uniland wants to build a new mixed use building at the corner of Delaware and West Chippewa containing a hotel and Delaware North's new corporate headquarters.
The hospitality and sports company has mentioned that it could consider moving out of Buffalo if tax breaks for the project are not secured.
"We need to break that system," Ryan said. "And we need to stop falling for it."
