JAMESTOWN, NY (WKBW) - After canceling a series of meetings across the state to discuss the Common Core, State Education Commissioner John King is in Jamestown to meet with parents and educators.

The first series of meetings was canceled after the commissioner received criticism from parents during a meeting downstate.

During a news conference with reporters at Jamestown High School, King said he was looking forward to hearing from parents and teachers.

He said a similar meeting in Buffalo is in the planning stages.

"We are planning to do a forum in Buffalo," he said, "but just to be clear I've been to Western New York many, many times."

At least one bus, packed with educators from Erie County, made the trip to Jamestown to hear from and meet with King.

We will have more on the public forum tonight on Eyewitness News at 11:00.
