State police still do not have a cause for St. Bonaventure University student Matthew Dungan's death but an autopsy will be performed today.
Dungan was found unresponsive early Sunday morning in an off-campus house. State police said he was visiting friends and watching sports on Saturday. Then sometime overnight, he stopped breathing.
Dungan was transported to Olean General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Dungan was a sophomore at Saint Bonaventure and lived on campus. He only began at the school last semester.
He was from Tonawanda and graduated from Kenmore West High School. Both his high school community and college family are devastated by the loss.
The university released a statement.
"Our hearts and prayers go out to the family of Mattew as we also focus on assisting Matthew's family and our students who are so terribly shaken by this."
The college has counselors on hand and their ministry center has been opened to help the students. There will also be a memorial held tonight on campus.
