Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW-TV) - On the streets of South Buffalo, in bars, restaurants, and in neighborhoods-- it's pretty clear how folks feel about hometown star Tim Kennedy,
"He's the best! He's a real nice guy and gets out a lot here in South Buffalo," says Aiden Gould.
But if you ask how they feel about Darcy Regier these days?
"He has no fans here," says Potter's Field tavern owner Pat Reid.
Many in this predominantly Irish neighborhood are outraged over Regier's decision not to renew Kennedy's contract.
They are showing their displeasure in a variety of ways-- there's roadside signs-- and even a "protest party" planned for Saturday night at Potter's Field.
"We decided to do something to support Tim and tell the Sabres how we really feel about what they did." Reid Said.
$20 gets you in the door -- there will be food, open bar, and probably a lot of badmouthing about Monday's decision not to renew Kennedy.
Reid says it's all in fun-- but also to send a message.
"We want Sabres management to know they let a hometown hero slip away."
