A New York State Trooper decided to use his weapon during a suspected domestic dispute in Livingston County
Police say late Monday night, they responded to a domestic dispute call at a North Road home in the Town of Geneseo.
Upon arrival, they found a father, Kevin Walsh, and his son Greg disagreeing, with the son holding a long gun.
The father tried to calm his son down, then rushed him to grab the gun but failed, ending up on the floor.
In response, the son starting beating his father with the butt end of the gun, then pointed it at him.
When a trooper advised the son to put the gun down, he refused.
The Trooper then shot the son one time in the shoulder.
He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester for treatment.
He now faces a long list of criminal charges.
The father, Kevin, is expected to be Okay.
