BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Students at the Charter School for Applied Technologies got a jump start on the school year, heading back to classes Monday.

School officials say the extra classroom time makes a big difference for students academically, though some kids were not too excited to get an early start to the school year.

Daniel Eickert, a student at CSAT, has many other things he'd rather be doing, like, "playing the computer or riding [his] bike."

The school has over 1,600 students registered in grades K through 12, and is the largest charter school in New York State.
