Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW ) - Whether its Facebook, Twitter or another site, young professionals in Western New York said social media is becoming the main source of communication within any successful business.
"You can directly connect with consumers if they have questions or concerns. You can answer instantaneously," Member of the Social Media Club of Buffalo Nicole Schuman said.
The Social Media Club of Buffalo held a seminar with people who work with social media in their jobs every day.
Mike Schuler is the Director of Digital Media for Darien Lake.
"We use Facebook and Twitter, other things too, to integrant guests feeling and thing about the park to our business. It really gives them an overall better product in the end," Schuler said.
The group's goal is to demonstrate the benefits of social media and stress the idea that sites like Twitter and Facebook are not just for the younger generation.
"The fastest growing segment of social media is the 46 to 65 year olds so a lot of the baby boomers are getting into the swing of it," Schuler said.
Many of the professionals at the meeting said there's a bigger picture. Improved social media equal better business and a better Buffalo.
"A stronger business in Western New York, makes a Stronger Western New York," Schuler said.
Schuman said business also have to change with the times to adapt to the ever-changing social media.
"People are taking advantage of this media to grown business and people have to continue looking at it in the future," Schuman said.
