CHEEKTOWAGA, NY (WKBW) - Franklin Neely can't remember the last time business at Hector's Hardware in Depew has been this slow.

"It's very slow," he said standing next to three dozen new snow blowers, which would usually be completely sold out by now.

Instead, winter-related merchandise like shovels and rock salt are sitting on the shelves.

The lack of snow in Western New York so far this season has some businesses feeling the squeeze.

At Gabe's Collision, owner Jeff Mucciarelli says he's not seeing the boost in business that winter usually provides.

"We're always busy, but we're not getting backed up from the bad weather," he said.

Some businesses are booming with mild temperatures and snow-free conditions stretching into mid-December.

Roofers were spotted today in Allentown fixing a roof. Construction and home improvement companies got an unexpected six-week extension this year thanks to the lack of snow.
