Many travelers trying to get out of the Buffalo Niagara International Airport Wednesday had to delay their trips because of wicked weather on the East Coast and flight cancellations across the board.

New York City, Philadelphia, Boston and Atlanta.

Those are just some of the destination that passengers will not be going.

"We got here at 4:30 and found out that our trip was cancelled. We were supposed to got to Atlanta, I had a feeling it would be cancelled. Now, we're playing the waiting game," passenger Mark Cuzzacrea said.

Locally, the weather was more of an inconvenience, not the worst Western New Yorkers have seen. In other places like New York City and Boston, the snow practically paralyzed the cities.

There were many flights backed up in those cities so there was ripple effect and many people at the Buffalo Airport had to wait or find another flight. Passengers Deb and Tom Lacher said negotiating another flight took some effort.

"They gave us the option of driving to Cleveland and leaving tomorrow but that wasn't an option. We were a little persistent so they put us over to United who was happy to take us a 10 a.m. This morning," Tom Lacher said.

There was some frustration building up at the airport.

"I've already been here for two days with a car rental," passenger Brian White said.

Other said it's all part of traveling during the cold winter months.

"I was kind of expecting it so we'll see what happens," Cuzzacrea said.

Many of these travelers will not be able to catch a flight until later tonight or tomorrow.
