Orchard Park, NY (WKBW) - It was a long night in the Southtowns, which were already hit hard Tuesday evening.

Roads were slick, and at times visibility was extremely low.

"I just can't believe it's doing this and it's one day away from spring," says Orchard Park resident Julie Hogan.

Many say it feels more like January than mid-March.

Liz Midgley says "We were really hoping that we were going to have some spring coming up like the groundhog said."

People may be longing for spring even more this year. This time last year, temperatures were in the '70's.

They were also warm in the last week. Jeff Lieberman says "A week and a half ago when the temperatures were in the 60's, we all had spring fever, and said great it's almost here -- and then you get this."

However, here in Western New York, springtime snow showers are not unheard of.

In the last 15 years, temperatures have dropped below freezing six times on Easter Sunday.

Roadways were slick Tuesday night. Witnesses say snow led to a multi-vehicle accident on the Skyway earlier in the evening.

Plows lined the streets. Even in the dark, residents were shoveling their driveways.

However, there are eternal optimists.

Kevin Clough of Orchard Park says "I think it's a little bit late in the winter season for it, but I'm planning to go out to Kissing Bridge tomorrow."

Johnny and Gina Conte says they just want a snow day.
