( release) The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) has announced that bridge inspections will begin on NY Route 5, the Buffalo Skyway, in the vicinity of downtown Buffalo, Erie County, beginning on Monday, July 25. As a result, traffic will be subject to lane closures in both the eastbound (inbound) and westbound (outbound) directions. Eastbound (inbound) NY Route 5 will be reduced to one lane beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Westbound (outbound) NY Route 5 will be reduced to one lane beginning at 7:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. These lane closures will be in effect for approximately two weeks.
Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.
