COLDEN, NY (WKBW) - The snow was a welcome sight for workers and guests alike at Kissing Bridge ski and snowboard resort Friday, where snow is not only loved, it's required.

"Well we've been waiting all season and finally we have snow." said Rachel Fanelli, Assistant Marketing Director at Kissing Bridge.

For the majority of the season, the ski resort has only been able to keep two hills open with manufactured snow. By the end of the night Friday after all the snow fall, they had about a dozen open, and with more snow on the way, it doesn't get much better for slope enthusiasts.

"I especially too today off to ski all night....with conditions like these, we've been waiting for it," said Ricky Dimon who came all the way from Newfane to start his weekend off on the slopes.

Kissing Bridge held a special late night package that keeps the lifts open through 1:00 a.m. early Saturday morning, then reopening Saturday morning through the extended weekend. And as the snow continued to fall, the thought of the 'mild winter' continuing was the last thing the ski crow would even consider.

"If you like sun and 51 [degrees], move to North Carolina, but this is what we've been waiting for all year," said Dimon.

"This is what Buffalo is supposed to look like in January," added Finelli.

Ski Country and much of the Southern Tier remains under a Lake Effect Snow Warning through Saturday evening.
