BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - UB President John B. Simpson made his final address as the school's president Wednesday after announcing his retirement at the end of August.
Simpson has stood by his UB 2020 plan throughout his tenure as president, however after Albany failed to lend support, Simpson decided to move on.
In his final speech Wednesday Simpson said that the long term plan for expansion of the university will take the school and Western New York to another level. However, since the program did not receive resources from the state, the university must now rely on support from the community.
"I also believe more than ever that this vision is attainable, but only as long as the community continues to support UB and UB continues to work as the community's partner," said Simpson during his address Wednesday.
Simpson added that he will continue to fight for UB 2020 until he retires in January.
