Buffalo, NY
Shoppers are strolling their local neighborhoods for last minute stocking stuffers and other gifts. But they are sure to find something that won't be on the shelves at the mall.

There are plenty of reasons to skip the mall this Christmas.

"You go to the malls and you'll be in three different department stores and they'll all have the same stock. Maybe a different color but here everything is completely unique," said Margo Moulin, a local shopper.

Even for procrastinators, local boutiques can make it look like you've had your eye on that one-of-a kind gift for months.

At Thin Ice, 90 percent of the merchandise is handmade by Buffalo artists and everything in the store is Made in America.

With just a few days left before Christmas business owners have noticed it's not a complete last minute press many people have completed the bulk of their shopping but are grabbing last minute stocking stuffers to finish off the list.

And if you find yourself scrambling at the last minute, most of the shops are featuring extended hours every night until Christmas day.
