Shooting Victim Laid To Rest

BUFFALO, NY ( WKBW ) Ira Watkins, the 19 year old teenager fatally caught in the crossfire of a suspected gang shooting at Cheektowaga Town Park last week, was laid to rest Friday.

Police have yet to arrest anyone in the incident.

Friday, friends and family gathered to pay their final respects at the New Mt. Aarat Church on Jefferson Avenue.

Friends like Mariah Aravalo shared memories of Ira with Eyewitness News.

Watkins was considered an innocent bystander. The describes the 19 year old as a promising young man. He was a student at ECC where he was majoring in criminal justice, and working as a manager at the Taco Bell at Walden Galleria.

Watkins planned on moving to a four year college after graduating, with goals of becoming a professional basketball player.
