BUFFALO, NY ( WKBW ) A scary scene unfolded overnight in Buffalo.
A driver who slammed his car into the front steps of a home was rescued, then rushed to the hospital.
Buffalo police have arrested an individual in connection with an early morning police pursuit that ended on Shirley Avenue.
Northeast district officers arrested a 26 year old Buffalo man and charged him with Fleeing an officer, Criminal possession of a weapon, Obstruction of governmental administration and a number of vehicle and traffic violations.
Police say officers were responding to a "shots fired" call in the vicinity of Fillmore Avenue and Victoria, just before 1:30am.
Officers say the individual pulled away from police and took off at a high rate of speed nearly striking an officer and a parked vehicle.
Police pursued the individual as he traveled on Jefferson, Main, LaSalle and eventually crashing into a tree and possibly a home, located in the 300 block of Shirley.
The individual was taken to ECMC with multiple injuries and is currently listed in serious condition.
No other injuries were reported and damage to the house appears to be minor.
Police say they recovered a hand gun after apprehending the individual.
Police are not releasing his name until he is formally booked.
