Deputy Helps Rescue Woman From Burning Car

TOWN OF MARILLA, NY ( WKBW ) An Eyewitness News crew is on the scene at Bullis Road near Eastwood in the Town of Marilla, where an Erie County Sheriffs Deputy joined a neighbor and helped rescue a woman from a burning car there.

According to a a release from the Erie County Sheriff's Office, a 1998 Chevrolet Tracker was traveling northbound on Eastwood Road when the operator, 19 year old Kaitlyn Boyce of Marilla, failed to yield the right of way at the intersection of Bullis Road.

Boyce's vehicle entered the intersection and was struck by a 2010 Dodge Avenger, operated by Cindy Casey of Attica, that was traveling westbound on Bullis Road.

After impact, Boyce's vehicle rolled over, struck a house, and caught fire. Boyce was rescued from the burning vehicle by Deputy Jason Weiss, and a local resident Steve Kibler.

Boyce was transported to ECMC fro a pelvis injury.

Casey, and an 18 year old female passenger were also transported to ECMC for treatment of minor injuries.

The home at Bullis and Eastwood suffered exterior fire and crash damage.

Marilla Fire Company and the New York State Police assisted at the scene.
