Sex Offenders Helped Run Haunted House.

(Lockport, NY) Should registered sex offenders who have completed their probation and parole be allowed to run a haunted house?

The question is causing a big debate in Lockport, New York.

Alfred Devoe, a level 2 sex offender, and Jeff Lewinsky, a level one sex offender, were co-owners of "Night Terrors."

"Night Terrors" is a home based haunted attraction located on Washburn Street in the City of Lockport.

Last year, over three hundred people attended the haunted house, and owners said they expected to see double that amount this Halloween.

Publicity over his past, forced 62-year old Alfred Devoe to resign as co-owner.

However, 39-year old Jeff Lewinsky says he plans to continue on as co-owner and help run the event.

"I've been on the registry for 15 years. Since then, have not had an incident," adds Lewinsky.

"There is nothing to worry about."

Police are very aware of the situation and say they've been researching the legalities related to sex offenders running a haunted house.

In this case, it appears to be legal because neither man is on parole or probation.

Late Friday evening, Eyewitness News obtained an e-mail from the owner of the "Night Terrors" Haunted Attraction who claims that the Halloween house will now close.
