Buffalo is seeing an impact from the Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino, which
opened nearly a year ago. A report in this week's Business First measures the impact. The 65,000 square foot site cost $130 million. It's on pace to attract three million people in its first year, triple the number of annual visitors to First Niagara Center. Research shows that patrons are coming from Ohio, Pennsylvania and Southern Ontario. The report also says the casino serves as a development bridge and gives back to the community. The Seneca Nation of Indians donated $1 million to 17 community groups.

The second annual Run Jimmy Run Charity 5k will be held Sunday, July 27 at 10 a.m. Hundreds of runners will take part in honor of the late Mayor James Griffin. All of the proceeds benefit the Alzheimer's Association of WNY. This year, former County Executive Ed Rutkowski is the honorary chair. The course pays tribute to Griffin's impact on Buffalo. The race ends at Coca-Cola Field with a post race party and Bisons game since Griffin is recognized in the Buffalo Baseball Hall of Fame and worked to build the downtown ballpark. The Bisons and Dent Neurological are sponsors. You can register at: .

The Buffalo Zoo's annual Wines in the Wild was a success. I served as a judge at the sold out event Thursday night, which features 60 area vendors. Money raised helps feed animals at the zoo.
