Security Guard Shot at Family Dollar Store

Buffalo, NY (WKBW) - A security guard remains in the hospital after being shot while on duty at a local store. 61-year-old Andrew Guidice was working security at the Family Dollar on Niagara Street near Pennsylvania Street in the Queen City Monday night, when he was shot in the chest. According to family members, Guidice underwent surgery and remains at ECMC in stable condition. Buffalo Police tell Eyewitness News Guidice had walked outside before the store was about to close around 9:30 p.m. when he was confronted by 3 individuals wearing masks. One was armed with a shotgun and shot Guidice. The 61-year-old then fired back. All three suspects fled the scene.

"He's the guy that goes to work everyday to support our family," said Richard Guard, Guidice's son-in-law. "To see something like this happen in the's tragedy."

Yesterday, another family dollar store was targeted on Delavan Avenue near Grider Street and police are investigating if the two cases are connected. Anyone with information is asked to call or text the confidential tipcall line at 847-2255.
