Seal & Design Inc. broke ground Tuesday on a $3 million, 40,000-square-foot expansion, that will nearly double the size of its Clarence facility.
The company, founded in 1989, employs about 100 and is a manufacturer of seals, gaskets and o-rings. The addition to the current, 52,00 square-foot facility is necessary to meet customer demand.
"We need to make more products, and are buying more equipment," said President Dean Penman, who added the demand is selling new products and more to existing customers.
He added that automotive, medical and OEM equipment markets each comprise about 30 percent of the company's sales. He said the company has grown about 40 percent over the last five years, and that 2014 revenues should be about $38 million.
Penman said the expanded facility, located at 4015 Casilio Parkway, should be completed in January. When finished, about 5,000 square feet of current manufacturing space will have been converted to additional office space.
