Buffalo, NY (WKBW) - With gas prices over $4 a gallon, many Western New Yorkers are ditching their cars for scooters. Many scooters average a hundred miles per gallon and only require a license to operate.

"They hold about a gallon to two gallons of gas, so you have a range of about 150-200 miles per fill up," said Jeff Russo, Manager of The Buffalo Scooter Company. "So on average it will cost you about $6 to fill up so people find that great."

Scooter riders are also starting clubs across the region, which include The Niagara River Scooter Club and The Buffalo United Scooter Club. A scooter 'blessing' event is scheduled at Erie County Scooters, located at 1330 French Road in Cheektowaga, on May 15th.
