Town of Tonawanda, NY (WKBW) School started for many Western New York school districts Tuesday, including the Kenmore - Town of Tonawanda Union Free School District. While many students are sad to see the summer end they say the first day of school is exciting. "I didn't get a lot of sleep last night because I was so excited...yeah, I guess I would say I get excited.", says Kenmore East High School junior Angelo Cultrara.
The start of school means that there will be buses and kids on the roads so local law enforcement is reminding drivers to be careful. AAA kicked off it's "School's Open-Drive Carefully" campaign along with several police agencies. The campaign is aimed at reducing the number of school related pedestrian injuries and fatalities. Drivers are asked to stay alert, get rid of any distractions in the car (especially cell-phones), and to never go around a stopped school bus.
