(West Seneca, NY) Ryan Purcell had his future planned out.

The freshman student at SUNY Fredonia was studying engineering and planned to run for the college's track team.

Those plans were shattered early Saturday morning.

West Seneca police were called by a passing motorist who found the young man laying on the north side of the road near 3155 Seneca Street in West Seneca.

Purcell was taken to South Buffalo Mercy Hospital were he was pronounced dead.

It appeared that he had been struck by a vehicle.

After an intensive search, police arrested 29-year old Lori Maciejewski and charged her with felony 'Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Accident.'

Police also impounded a black 1998 Chevy S10 Blazer which they said had signs of damage from the impact.

Maciejewski is being held without bail and is scheduled to be back in West Seneca Town Court on Tuesday night at 7pm.

Ryan Purcell graduated from West Seneca West High School after transferring from Saint Francis High School in Athol Springs.
