BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Buffalo's Board of Education is meeting in special session Monday night with one goal: find a way to rehire more than 100 teachers and 150 teacher aides who were laid off earlier this month.

The solution: find $5 million in the budget to bring the employees back before school starts next month.

While the money exists in the district's reserve accounts, members of the finance department have warned the board to be cautious about spending that money since the district's projected deficit in the coming years is expected to keep ballooning.

Eyewitness News has a crew at tonight's school board meeting and will have the latest at 11:00.
