BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - When Ana Minier takes her family for an afternoon stroll through Delaware Park, she rarely walks near Hoyt Lake.
"It is gross," she said.
"And when we walk down here it really smells. It's like a fishy smell. Like a sewer smell," Minier said while walking with her daughter Destiny.
But soon, that odor could be greatly reduced or eliminated altogether from a boost in oxygen levels and cleaner lake water.
The city is installing two new fresh water wells, paid for by state grants and city bonds.
"Hoyt Lake is a wonderful amenity that we have and we are very excited to start this process to improve the environmental conditions that we have been concerned about here at Hoyt Lake," said Mayor Byron Brown (D-Buffalo).
