BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Buffalo police continue to investigate an overnight accident involving a police cruiser.
Buffalo Police say that the incident began in the West Delavan and
Chapin Pkwy area around 4:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
Police say it began when a vehicle went by a police car at an apparent high rate of speed.
The officer began to pursue the vehicle when he was struck by a second vehicle.
The first vehicle continued on and at this time it appears the driver struck a number of parked vehicles and at least one stopped vehicle.
Police say it appears that at least one tree and one light post were also damaged. The driver of the first vehicle was taken to ECMC to be treated.
Charges are pending against that driver.
The Buffalo Police Accident Investigation Unit is in charge of the incident.
The patrol car did suffer minor damage when it was struck.
