Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW-TV) As news of Pat LaFontaine's resignation from the Buffalo Sabres continues to make its way around the Queen City, fans are left with many unanswered questions and disappointment.

"I can't believe it honestly," said Steven Tarasek.

Hundreds of fans packed into the First Niagara Center Saturday for "Unpucked," a night for fans to mingle with players past and present, while enjoying music.

"Came out of the blue. I didn't know there was a problem in the front office and I'm kind of worried what direction the team is gonna go right now," said Brian Sandstrom, who learned of the news at the event.

"(They) make it seem like he was gonna save the team and then to just abandoned us like that-- it hits home, you know? You know it really hits where the heart is. I've been living in Buffalo all my life, all 21 years and I mean geez, I feel betrayed," said Brandon Waz.

Many fans said they looked to LaFontaine as a source of hope for the team and are worried what this will mean for the future.
