Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW) -- The bar at Colter Bay Grill in Buffalo is packed Tuesday night. Sabres fans are glued to the big overhead TV screens. It's late in the second period and they're hoping the home team can surge back. It has been a season to remember.
The Sabres' fierce late season battle to get into the playoffs has fans looking to the future. New team owner Terry Pegula has transformed the attitude of many fans. "The pocket book of Pagula. The commitment from management, absolutely," said one fan. "Fan appreciation night. It was amazing. The feeling in the arena...no one in the league has felt anything like that. Pegula really brought something to the table, bringing everybody back like that," remarked another fan.
Some think the Sabres can only improve with some of the top prospects in the league. "I think the immergence of Gerbe and Ennis and their young guys has given them a solid core. Meyers is going to be fun to watch for the rest of his career. I think we are in good shape for the long hall," added another fan.
Sabres fans will have to wait for next season. But, most think that the future looks bright.
