Lancaster, N.Y. (WKBW) - It all happened Thursday morning around 8 a.m. Two accidents on Walden Avenue killed a man and injured a woman. The first crash happened on Walden Avenue at Ransom Roads in the Lancaster.
"First units on location found a car that was driven by a man from Lancaster that struck a motor-scooter type vehicle traveling Westbound on Walden Avenue," Lancaster Police Lt. Ronald Rozler said.
The person was thrown from the scooter and died on the scene. The road was shut down for the investigation. Police said speed and alcohol were not a factor in the crash but the driver of the SUV may face traffic charges.
"This time it looks like the gentleman on motor-scooter was in the right of way. The man was making a left hand turn, didn't see the scooter in the roadway," Rozler said.
Just hours later, a woman and child were driving on Walden Avenue at Cemetery Road when they collided with another vehicle. The little girl was visibly shaken, while the woman suffered injuries and was taken to the hospital. Officials said drivers in general must be aware and alert.
"It's paying attention and being aware of your surroundings, not being distracted by any other means like cell phone or texting," Rozler said.
The investigation into both accidents continues. The names of the victims have not been release.
