BUFFALO, NY ( WKBW / ) The Buffalo Sabres "Free Agency Frenzy" continued Friday with the signing of Ville Leino.

It hasn’t been two years since Detroit shipped Leino to the Flyers in return for Ole-Kristian Tollefsen and a fifth-round draft pick. Basically nothing. Since then his stock has skyrocketed. He had a breakout performance in the 2010 playoffs, where he registered 21 points in 19 games. His line with Danny Briere and Scott Hartnell was arguably the best in the postseason that year, and he followed it up with 19 goals this season in Philadelphia. Leino cashed in on Friday, signing a six-year contract worth $27 million with the Sabres. Here’s how much they thought of him: They pulled out of the Brad Richards hunt to make sure they landed him. “Based on what we’ve seen over the course of the season, the playoffs last season… he is not only playing at a high level, we think there’s upside there,” Sabres general manager Darcy Regier said. “We think he’s coming into his own.”
