(Hamburg, NY) Superintendent of the Hamburg Central School District, Steven Achramovitch, tells Eyewitness News that rumors of a "hit list" on Facebook have turned out to be false.

Last Friday, Village of Hamburg Police informed the school district that they received a call alerting them to a threat posted by a Hamburg High School student on the internet.

The school district informed parents and launched an investigation.

Superintendent Achramovitch says they found no evidence of the any threat or a "hit list."

The Superintendent says it appears to be miscommunication on the part of teenagers.

However, a juvenile and his family have been contacted by authorities, even though no charges are pending.

"Any report or threat that we receive is taken extremely seriously," says Achramovitch.

"If they see any information that appears to be threatening, or any information that appears to be a bullying situation, we would hope to be contacted immediately."
