Rollover Crash Sends Driver to ECMC

CLARENCE CENTER, N.Y. ( WKBW ) Eyewitness news is continuing to follow breaking news overnight.

A one car roll over crash in Clarence sent one man to the hospital, where reports indicate he is in critical condition.

The incident happened around 3:30a.m. Thursday morning on Salt Road. Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the Erie County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit is investigating a one vehicle rollover crash on Salt Road, in the Town of Clarence, injuring the driver.

46 year old, David Compton of Lockport, New York was travelling southbound on Salt Road when Compton lost control of his 2007 Volkswagen GTI he was driving, veering off the road, into a ditch, and rolled over several times, coming to rest on the side of the road.

Rescue crews from Clarence Center Fire Company, extricated Compton from the vehicle and provided emergency medical care.

Twin City Ambulance transported to Compton to Erie County Medical Center, where he is listed in critical condition.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Salt Road was closed for several hours between Delaware Road and Tonawanda Creek Road so officials could investigate.
