Rochester Native Killed in Afghanistan

KHARWAR, AFGHANISTAN (WKBW) A Rochester native and former student at Niagara University has died from injuries sustained in combat in Afghanistan.

The Department of Defense reports Pfc. Theodore M. Glende, 23, was killed during an attack on his unit by small-arms fire in Kharwar, Afghanistan.

Pfc. Glende was serving in Operation Enduring Freedom with the Army's 1st Battalion. He was assigned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team based in Vicenza, Italy.

Pfc. Glende was a graduate of McQuaid High School and attended Niagara University for 3 years. He recently married Alexandra Glende.
