(Lockport, N.Y.) Students from Lockport High School and the Starpoint School District have won a chance to be part of the final round of a multi-national competition for robots.

The 36 students spent several weeks building a robot that can be remotely controlled and can lift inflatable tubes high up onto a scoring rack.

They call themselves "Team 1507 Warlocks."

They got assistance from a not-for-profit educational group called "Lockport Robotics, Inc."

Lockport Robotics brings together skilled engineers to help mentor students in solving engineering problems. The group helps sponsor students in the FIRST Robotics competitions held each year.

The robot constructed by Team 1507 'Warlocks' took 2nd place in the Pittsburgh Regionals for the FIRST Robot competition.

Earning the silver medal places the Niagara County team in the World Finals which will be held in St. Louis, Mo. at the end of April.
