Several schools throughout the region shutdown today, all thanks to the weather. The National Weather Service sent cities across Western New York into a Lake Effect Snow Warning. The warning took effect on Tuesday and is expected to last until around 4:00 A.M. Thursday.
According to dispatchers, the thruway saw a quiet night and not a lot of traffic. However, snow plows and salt trucks have graced the streets because even though not a lot of snow accumulated on the freeway, dispatchers worry about drifting snow.
The Southern Tier is a different story. It's expected to see the majority of snowfall, which could cause some slick conditions on the roads.
