Hanover, N.Y. (WKBW-TV) - Littering, Loitering, even drug use. Those are the things some residents in Sunset Bay say are happening at night in their community.

They say most of the problems are happening during the week when there's a smaller police presence in this beach community.

It was last month, Eyewitness news reported that Hanover Town Officials, along with the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Department, and State Police announced plans to step up patrols in Sunset Bay.

They have.

But only on the weekends, according to some residents. During the week-- there have been reports of trespassing, littering, and drug use. Some say the problems are mostly around the Town's public beach-- which does not officially close until 11pm. Too late, some say.

Residents would like to see increased patrols week nights through the summer months. Town officials say they're working on it and while they do-- they're asking residents in the community to report any suspicious activity to the Sheriff's Department.
