It's Official: Fitzpatrick Finalizes Extension

October 29, 2011 Updated Oct 29, 2011 at 9:36 PM EDT

Buffalo (WKBW.com) The Buffalo Bills announced on Friday that the team has signed an extension with Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick

ESPN is reporting that the final details of a 6-year deal that will pay Fitzpatrick $59 million dollars are being hammered out. The report says Fitzpatrick will get $24 million in guaranteed money, and be paid $33 million in the first three years of the contract.

In his third year Fitzpatrick has led the Bills to a 4-and-2 start to the season with 1,477 yards passing, 12 TDs and 6 Ints.

Earlier in the week Fitzpatrick talked about it being important to get a deal done sooner then later. "I probably would be lying if I said that it’s something that I haven’t even thought about all year" said Fitzpatrick on Wednesday. "It’s something you try not to think about. But certainly something exists that’s in the air. I’m human too so I can’t just block all that away. It’d be something that I’d like to get done and we’ll see how it progresses in the next few weeks.", said Fitzpatrick.

"I’d like to remain here. I’ve said multiple times I really enjoy the guys I’m playing with. We’ll see how it shakes out. I think we’ve got a good group of guys here. A good, young talented group of guys that like playing together", Fitzpatrick continued.

It's now believed that the Bills will focus on trying to agree to new deals with WR Stevie Johnson and RB Fred Jackson.
