BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) The historically aligned replica canal project was designed to be a signature part of Buffalo's inner harbor development.
It was originally supposed to be done in 2013, with the completion date moved to early-Fall 2014 after disputes with the original contractor led to litigation and a change of construction companies.
Now Eyewitness News has obtained documents that show The Pike Company from Rochester is estimating the canals will not be substantially complete until the end of November.
Officials say the canals will be finished in time for winter ice skating, but other parts of the project that include amenities will have to wait until 2015.
Channel Seven's Ed Reilly has an update on the canal project after speaking with Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation Chairman Robert Gioia.
