Honoring the Lives Lost on Flight 3407

Clarence, NY (WKBW) - It has been four years since a plane crashed into a neighborhood in Clarence.

Now that location has been turned into a memorial for the victims of Flight 3407.

That plane crash four years ago changed the community in many ways.

Family members and loved ones have been coming to a small memorial, placing flowers where their loved ones died.

On the anniversary, people living in the area and community members are also coming to pay their respects.

The area remains very solemn. There are constant reminders of that fateful day -- a memorial, broken trees and two vacant lots where homes once stood.

People who came to the memorial and live in the area say there is another reminder -- the frequent sound of planes flying overhead.

The memorial is small and really meant to be a quiet place and reflecting and remembering for loved ones of victims.

The Clarence Town Supervisor tells me that plans are in the works for a second memorial at the local library.

It would include videos, pictures and ways to remember the victims. The design is expected to be done later this year.

The Town Supervisor adds he hopes more people go to that second memorial in the future, and allow the one on Long Street to be a private place for family members and loved ones of the victims.
