BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) The end goal is to reduce crime, but it starts one step at a time.
Today, for the 7th year in a row, Mayor Byron Brown hosted the City of Buffalo’s Gun Buyback Program.
The Mayor welcomed any and all un-wanted guns to six locations throughout Buffalo.
The program pays cash to those who donate their guns.
Here’s the breakdown:
$10.00 for a non-working, antique gun
$50.00 for a rifle or shotgun
$75.00 for a handgun
$100.00 for an assault weapon
Throughout the seven years, the city has taken in over 4,500 guns.
Once the weapons are turned over, they are audited and destroyed by the Buffalo Police Department.
