BUFFALO, NY (release) - Two local companies submitted plans to redevelop the nearly 10 acre Gates hospital site in Buffalo.

Chason/Affinity's proposal calls for a new "School of Veterinary Medicine" with selective demolition, adaptive reuse, historic preservation, with a total project cost of $65 million. The proposal is based on observation of shortages of veterinarians nationwide and lack of vet school spots.

Uniland Development is proposing "Chapin Place" including condominiums, apartments, townhouses, a wellness center, office space, retail and a boutique hotel. Total project cost is approximately $100 million.

Kaleida Health is committed to a transparent re-use process for the hospital. The goal of the re-use process is to find a suitable developer who is interested in the property or help determine other future possibilities for the site.
