BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) On Wednesday, a campaign called "Project Hope" will officially kick-off to educate the community about the dangers associated with taking prescription pain-killers like oxycodone, hydrocodone, and meperidine.

Health experts warn that the drugs can become addictive very easily, and because they are often prescribed in large numbers, there is a great risk with children getting access to them in a home.

The effort is being led by Horizon Health Services, Blue Cross Blue Shield of WNY, and over 50 community partners including WKBW-TV.

Several billboards have been donated by Lamar Advertising with signs promoting an informational website: painkillersKILL.org.
