BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - A Chicago-based Start-up is focusing on bike safety with a gadget that alerts your smartphone when your bike is stolen and also reports to police in the case of an accident.

The BikeSpike is a GPS tracker that monitors your bike's location on a map, digitally locks it, and sends automatic notifications to you if your bike is moved from it's space or is being tampered with.

BikeSpike also focuses on safety, working like On-Star. It has a collision detection system and will alert contacts in your phone as well as local law enforcement and rescue crews if an accident occurs.

BikeSpike also allows you to monitor your children's bike and notifies you if they ride out of the safety-zone you set for them.

The team behind BikeSpike told that it's not just for the casual bike, but also for professional bikers and coaches, as well as fans, who want to get live updates from their favorite profession biker as he/she trains or races.

With the weather getting nicer, the BikeSpike can be a very reliable tool to not only keep your bike safe, but also keeps yourself safe. You can order it with a pledge of $149 on their KickStarter Page below:
